3D Elmo Cake!!

Received my "call to action" from an organization called Icing Smiles. It was for a sweet angel named Thomas AKA Cam who was turning 2 & has been battling Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  Cam's mom wanted an Elmo themed cake for her baby. I tossed around a few ideas in my head & wanted to create the best cake possible. I finally settled on a 3D Elmo. Not only would it be a very cool cake for Cam, making his favorite character into a life sized cake, but it would also push me into a new level of cake decorating, which I had been eager to try, but was quite intimidated by. Needless to say it was a win win situation. 

If you're not familiar, it's an organization, with a huge network of bakers, that help to bring smiles (hence the name) to children who are battling serious medical conditions. The bakers donate a FREE cake for a child on their birthday when "called to action".

Hello Kitty cake made for my daughters 12th birthday. My first time trying out the "TOPSY TURVY" style. It was fun making this cake. I love trying out different techniques when I get the opportunity. HK is handmade from fondant. TFL looking!!
